Frequently Asked Questions

What makes OSS different from other summer programmes?

Oxbridge Summer Scholars stands out for its academic intensity, intellectual breadth, and immersive learning environment. The two-week programme for students aged 14-19 is divided into specialised Streams, allowing each student to explore their academic interests in depth while experiencing life at one of the world’s most prestigious university settings.

Each day combines a diverse range of subjects and teaching styles, led by expert tutors and academics from top UK universities. Through Oxbridge-style small-group tutorials, seminars, and interactive sessions lasting up to eight hours a day, students expand their knowledge, sharpen their analytical and independent learning skills, and build a strong foundation for future university success.

How does OSS programme prepare me for university or further study?

OSS uses an academic structure that mirrors undergraduate-level study:

- daily lectures and interactive seminars

- small-group tutorials

- an individual research project

This approach fosters independent thinking, critical analysis, and deep understanding of complex topics. The programme’s interdisciplinary streams and expert tutors – many drawn from top UK universities – help you build a strong academic foundation and a compelling academic portfolio.

Can I pursue more than one subject area during the programme?

Yes, as a complementary opportunity. While each student selects a main Stream, OSS encourages interdisciplinary learning. You complete several modules within your stream and also gain exposure to subjects from other streams through lectures and group activities, helping you broaden your academic interests and explore multiple fields.

What other benefits does OSS offer beyond academics?

Beyond academic sessions, OSS provides a fully immersive residential experience in Oxford or Cambridge colleges, bringing a taste of real university life. You’ll live and study with peers from all over the world – building a global network – and take part in cultural and social activities that enrich your understanding of British history, culture, and academic life. The combination of serious study and vibrant social experience sets OSS apart.

What will students receive after the programme?

Upon successful completion of the Oxbridge Summer Scholars programme, you will be celebrated at a formal award ceremony. As a testament to your achievements, you will receive a certificate recognizing your participation and accomplishments.
