Who can join Oxbridge Summer Scholars?
Oxbridge Summer Scholars welcomes students aged 14 to 19 for an enriching summer programme. Participants explore various academic fields, including science, technology, medicine, business, law, and global affairs. A good command of English, sufficient for understanding and conversation, is required. Beyond academics, students enjoy cultural excursions, interactive workshops, and extracurricular activities, providing a well-rounded experience in the UK’s prestigious academic environment.
PROGRAMMES FOR 16-19 YEARS OLD
Science, Innovation and Technology (SIT)

This stream is for you if maths is central to your aspirations. This stream will incorporate the subjects covered in the Cambridge Natural Sciences degree (physical sciences pathway) such as maths, physics, astrophysics, earth sciences and materials science, together with computer science, data science and engineering.

Science and Technology

This module will introduce you to the wealth of subjects that can be studied by students following the STEM pathway at school. There will be introductions to different aspects of physics such as astrophysics and geophysics, as well as taster classes in computer science and different types of engineering including mechanical and electronic engineering.

Patrick Hao
Patrick, one of our stream D tutors, obtained his B.A. in History with First-Class Honours from Somerville College, University of Oxford. His undergraduate thesis won the Robert Herbert Memorial Prize, awarded by the Faculty of History at Oxford for the best undergraduate thesis in Imperial and Commonwealth history.

Alison Nicoll
Alison, one of our stream B tutors, holds a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Population Health from University College, London. Alison currently divides her time between tutoring/mentoring and studying for a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health at University College, London.

Gianluca Galeazzi
Gianluca, one of our stream A tutors, holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary University of London. and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in Energy Technologies focusing on renewable energy.

Visa & Travel Information
Before traveling to the UK, it is essential to check whether you require a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). You can verify your status on the official UK government website: UK Visa Check.

If You Need a Visa
Students who require a visa should apply for a Standard Visitor Visa (6 months), which is the appropriate visa type for attending our programme. OSS provides a Visa Letter to assist with the application process. This document confirms the student’s acceptance, programme details, accommodation, and other relevant information.
For first-time applicants, we recommend seeking assistance from a reputable visa agency in your country.

If You Need an ETA
Starting January 8, 2025, students from many visa-exempt countries must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before entering the UK. The ETA costs £10, is valid for two years, and can be obtained online or via the UK ETA app. Processing takes up to 3 working days, so be sure to apply in advance. Learn more: UK ETA Guide.

FAQ
