"Eye-opening is the word I'd use. I came into OSS with a rough idea of my career direction, but specialized guidance from the tutors gave me real confidence and the education I needed to pursue it. A lecture on torts, contract, and equity law was the most educational class I took, diving into the specifics of negligence and what it really means to build or break a contract. Before OSS, I wasn't accustomed to what it might mean to study law, but now I see it as a genuinely viable option for me. If you're on the fence about applying, go for it; you'll meet people from around the world who expand your worldview, and the academic tuition here is of such high calibre that it prepares you for what university study is actually like."

"One of the standout keynote lectures was about mindset, it really helped set the foundation for how to manage time and stay focused on what we want to achieve. Among the academic lectures, biochemistry deepened one of us into researching the subject further, while the other found new interest in finance and behavioral economics, rediscovering a passion for the subject. Between lectures there's been plenty of free time, going to the mall, the gym, and making new friends. On the weekend we took a school trip to Cambridge, exploring the market square and doing a photo hunt around the city with friends, it was a great chance to see another university town and have fun together. It's not as academic as you'd think, there's a lot of free time to enjoy, we'd definitely recommend joining."

"One of the things I enjoyed most about OSS was the variety of teaching, from tutorials to seminars, because I always felt like I was learning something new. My favourite subject was black holes, and the seminars inspired a new interest in cosmology and astrophysics that I'm now considering studying in the future. I also loved exploring Blenheim Palace and Cambridge, as well as taking part in social activities like casino night and karaoke. I'd definitely recommend OSS. "One of the most unique aspects of OSS was meeting professionals and academics – the level of interaction with them was truly exceptional. "Exposing is the word I'd use. I was exposed to so many topics related to my stream that I'd never considered before. A seminar on electrical engineering really stood out, helping me visualize what a career in the field could actually look like. These two weeks gave me a real taste of what university will be like, and helped me understand that mechanical engineering is where my interest lies. You have to try it; even if you don't end up loving every part, you'll learn so much about your interests and about yourself. It's rewarding either way. Eye-opening is exactly how I'd describe it; we learned about topics like topology and star spectroscopy that I'd never encountered in school. The academics were to a really high standard, and every class taught me something I never would have known otherwise. After two weeks, I've narrowed down my interests so much more clearly, just based on what I genuinely enjoyed. My advice: 100%, do it. You'll see incredible places, meet people from across the world, and have an amazing experience."

"I joined Stream D (Politics, Philosophy, and Global Issues), where I explored Politics, International Law, and Economics in real depth. I especially enjoyed learning how financial institutions and regulation work, and the classes at Oriel College made the academic experience feel truly immersive and motivating. The tutorials were incredibly valuable, particularly for UK university applications, as tutors offered clear guidance on personal statements and admissions. Over these two weeks, I narrowed my academic focus toward PPE. OSS also strengthened my interest in applying to the UK, giving me clarity, confidence, and a real sense of university-level study."

"I participated in Stream C, which covers Economics, Politics, International Relations, Philosophy, and a bit of Psychology. As someone interested in Psychology, I especially enjoyed the Forensic Psychology lecture. I also found the Law sessions on Innovative Policy fascinating, exploring how legal decisions balance consumer rights, business interests, and international differences. I also loved the social activities, which allowed us to interact with other students. Overall, OSS was an inspiring and fun experience, and I would do it again."

"What I loved most about OSS was how interdisciplinary the courses were. I came mainly interested in Economics and International Relations, but I explored many other fascinating topics. The classes were interactive, with debates and discussions, and the tutors were inspiring, teaching both academic content and skills like giving strong presentations. The group activities helped everyone connect and work together. I met amazing people from around the world, making lifelong friendships, and the whole experience was truly inspiring."

"It's been an absolute delight, interacting with such a diverse group of thinkers, people so passionate about their ideas and with a level of knowledge I hadn't encountered before. The biggest challenge was the pre-reading, some of it was intense, but tackling it with determination helped me develop the ability to read fast and really understand. In free time we explored cafes and restaurants across Cambridge, played some rugby, and just roamed the city as a group. The trip to Anglesey Abbey stood out too, a beautiful, deeply historic place with wonderfully maintained gardens. Cambridge itself is quaint and cosy, reflecting me more than Oxford's city feel, and subjects like behavioural economics have deeply enriched how I think about politics and economics."

"What I found most special about OSS is that all the professors are graduates of Oxford, Cambridge, or other top UK universities. This was incredibly valuable, as we gained real insight into what education there is like. The programme offered interdisciplinary learning and multiple perspectives on subjects. My favourite part was the way tutors approached learning – for example, in the leadership session, we focused on discussion and debating, which I really enjoyed. Before OSS, I had limited exposure to Economics and was unsure about applying to UK universities. This two-week experience changed my perspective. "The astrophysics lectures were a highlight, covering black hole theories and mathematical models, along with biomedicine, where we explored molecular theory and how it connects to pharmacology. One of the keynote lectures that stood out was about mindset, how having a positive outlook affects behaviour and helps you work through different scenarios efficiently, it really helped with maintaining good emotional health. The program also opened up interest in more practical subjects, like civil engineering, and gave a real taste of interdisciplinary thinking. Coming in, one of us was focused on economics but ended up switching towards biomedicine after discovering a new interest here. Outside of lectures, playing table tennis in the common room was a favourite way to unwind. We'd definitely suggest giving this program a try, it opens up so many different academic perspectives."

Mornings were full of classes, and afternoons were for trips — my favourite was the Fitzwilliam Museum, seeing Greek and Egyptian artifacts I'd studied in my lectures come to life in person. Sessions on ancient philosophy and freedom of speech stood out the most, and I hope to explore those topics further in the future. "It's eventful, mornings are for studying, but evenings are for fun with friends, supervisors, and sometimes tutors too. Staying at an amazing college, the one-on-one tutorial method, and meeting genuinely smart people from around the world have been the highlights. I loved learning from expert tutors from Cambridge, Oxford and King's, asking them about applying and what draws people to the field, covering everything from international relations to criminal and contract law. A keynote lecture on the future of warfare really stood out too, the speaker was so confident and inspiring. "My first impression of Oxford was that it was huge and amazing. I really enjoyed the biochemistry classes, and one of the highlights of the medicine stream was the UCAT tutorial, where we learned about each section of the test and picked up lots of useful tips. My favourite part of OSS was the diversity of the students and how friendly everyone was. Outside of classes, I enjoyed spending time with friends in the Junior Common Room, playing pool, exploring the city and going to events like the pantomime, game nights and karaoke. I'd definitely recommend joining OSS because there's always something for everyone, and it's a lot of fun."

"Aside from meeting amazing people, like the tutors and friends, the keynote lectures were a real highlight, especially sustainability and the future of war, seeing experts talk so passionately about their subjects was really inspiring. Outside of lectures, we'd go to the mall, try the cafes nearby, or just sit and catch up before curfew. Writing essays and research projects was enjoyable, though the personal reflection side was a bit challenging, definitely more independent than school, closer to what university will actually be like. It's less guided, you have to ask your own questions, but that made it even more enjoyable. Honestly, what do you have to lose? You'll make amazing friends and memories here, we'd genuinely say just do it, you won't regret it."

"A favourite part was spending the day in Cambridge and going punting with everyone, along with subject days like vascular and trauma surgery and cancer therapies, which really confirmed an interest in medicine. The tutorials were a highlight too, one-on-one time with experts in the field made it easy to ask questions and dig deeper into specific topics. Extracurricular activities, like karaoke and dance nights, gave a great chance to bond with people outside our usual courses. Having a different tutor every day kept things fresh, everyone taught differently, so it never felt repetitive. "My name is Boris. I joined the Junior Programme in Stream A – Physics, Science, and Engineering. What I found most special about OSS was meeting so many new people and making great friends. The programme was really well-balanced – in the mornings, we had academic sessions and optional tutorials, and in the afternoons, we went on trips or worked on our final essay project. I especially loved the excursions – my favourite was visiting the Mini BMW plant, which was fascinating. My favourite subject was Mechanical Engineering, and thanks to the programme, I now have a much clearer idea of my future path. Before OSS, I was unsure whether to pursue Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, or Quantum Mechanics, but now I’m confident in my choice. "It was frightening at first, honestly, but in a good way. I'd never lived on campus before, so meeting new people and new fields of study was a real stretch, but it helped me grow. A whole day with a professor covering complex numbers and quantum theory really stood out, it widened my view of maths and showed how interconnected different sciences actually are. The first two days were tough as an introvert in a new place, but I soon found people who think similarly to me, and ended up with a group of about eight people I could talk to for hours. Seeing how Cambridge actually works from the inside humanised it, it stopped being this black box of prestige. It's opened my eyes to how much it challenges you to think differently."

"All the memories shared with new friends here will always be treasured, karaoke night, punting, and one-on-one conversations with lecturers after seminars that I'll never forget. It's been unforgettable, meeting people from all over the world I wouldn't usually get to interact with, gaining so much knowledge and new experiences that will stay with me. It's also been immersive, a new topic every day but still getting properly immersed, coming away with a much broader understanding of how the world works, especially through hands-on activities. One standout was a lecture on freedom of expression that changed how I see rights and freedom. A pure maths lecture also surprised me, since I'm usually more physics and chemistry."

"The experience has been immersive, with engaging activities, interesting lectures and seminars, and talkative tutorials, we learned so much here. The behavioural economics lecture was a favourite for both of us, learning about nudge theory and how it influences the way we buy things. Evenings brought their own fun too, karaoke, singing and dancing. We both loved Cambridge, calm in the mornings but lively at night, though Oxford felt bigger, with more to do. "It's been going really well, getting a lot of practical insights from professors who share their own experiences rather than just textbook material, things you could actually use to start a business or work in a firm. I'm really looking forward to the marketing part, as I'd potentially major in it, and also to the tour of Cambridge and punting this weekend, something I've never done before. Everyone I've met is like-minded but also really different, coming from all corners of the world, which gives such a great range of perspectives. I love the city itself, it's small and cosy compared to somewhere like London, with lovely restaurants nearby, and seeing the Bodleian Library yesterday was absolutely spectacular."

"The Civil Engineering seminars on the first day were incredibly insightful. I learned about new schools of thought, like Holistic Design, that I wouldn’t normally encounter without speaking to industry professionals. It really opened my mind and taught me to approach design from multiple perspectives beyond just functionality. If you’re worried about applying to OSS, don’t be. The academics and interview process may seem daunting, but it's definitely worth it. Living in Oxford for two weeks was an amazing experience, and for me, it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life."

"I think I'm going to say transformative. I had a lot of fun meeting people from every continent in all my groups, talking about issues, some I was really familiar with, others completely new that I brought into my project, like connecting tech and systemic violence to a question about climate change. I got to sit in on some medical tutorials too, including one about excavating mass burials. I was surprised how collaborative and tight-knit the college is, everyone just trying to help each other and talk through issues. I loved all our trips, punting on the river, touring colleges in Oxford, visiting an abbey, but my favourite was just walking around Cambridge with new people, trying the food."

"The programme is demanding, but in the best possible way. It makes you want to engage, ask questions and learn as much as you can, and that's the same attitude you find in the other students. The lectures are incredibly engaging because the tutors encourage discussion and give everyone the opportunity to express their ideas, which is very different from my experience at school. The admissions sessions explained the entrance tests in great detail, and that's something that's very difficult to find back home in Canada. My favourite lesson was looking at conflict and how to resolve it, since that's the career path I want to pursue, it was fascinating seeing the case studies, especially with my own family's Northern Irish background. The lecture I found most interesting was about AI ethics, discussing how AI is made and how it can be influenced by human opinions. It really helped with my English as well as my STEM knowledge, letting me learn more about maths and physics, and it helped me see what I want to do with my future. I think this is really going to help me figure out my path going forward. Just do it, you won't be upset, it's going to be a perfect experience for you."
