What is the Law module about?

The Law module gives students a broad and insightful introduction to legal studies, covering different branches of law and how they operate in society. It aims to give a realistic understanding of what studying law in the UK might involve – from core legal principles to ethical and human rights issues.

Which specific topics will I study in the Law module?

Topics include various legal specialisms such as tort law, criminal law, human rights law, intellectual property rights, as well as foundational subjects like ethics, separation of powers, and individual rights.You may also engage in practical exercises – e.g. case studies or mock scenarios – to deepen their understanding of how legal theory applies in real-world contexts.

Can I study just this module of Stream D?

No. This module is part of the full Stream D curriculum. To gain a well rounded understanding of the subject within its wider social, political, and theoretical context, students are encouraged to study it alongside at least two other modules within the same stream.
